Case study 1

There are two case studies in Operation Analytics and Investigating Metric Spike. We are provided with data for each case study separately. I completed case study 2, but for case study 1 the data that has been provided is very small. So, should we have to use MySql or Excel for case study 1?, the reason why I'm asking this is, as the data is too small we can answer the questions just by seeing the data without using programming right?. Please correct me if I'm wrong. And, there are no solutions for case study 1 in the video (Project labs).
