Auto-generation of numbers using sequence function

Sir, While using the sequence() I was unable to generate next number automatically. In the provided image, I want no 6 to be assignned to John automatically. I used "=sequence(5,1,1,,1)" I want numbers to be assigned automatically for all the following entries? How should I approach this?
