Excel formula doubt

this is regarding to 1st question of imdb project to find max value of genre for.eg say action with just the formula usage, i tried this =MAX(IF(A2:A3888="Action", B2:B3888)) and =MAX(SUMPRODUCT((A2:A3888="Action") * B2:B3888)) both aren't giving proper result. I know we can achieve the results if we split the genre accordingly, but is there any way to do it just by excel formulas? if i can get this rest all calculation will be easy
