Project3 date column ds update query

In project 3, i have data sets for job_data. In ds column we have date format as MM/DD/YYYY.I have created the table in database with ds column in varchar datatype. If i want to convert the date into YYYY-MM-DD format, I used the query update jobdata set ds = dateformat(strtodate(ds, '%m/%d/%y' ), '%y-%m-%d'); But am getting an error below, I also tried the query with where condition, but still am getting an error.
